Kollam formerly known as Quilon is
considered as the Southern Gateway of Backwaters in Kerala. There are many
places of tourist interest in Kollam district.
Alappuzha (or
Alleppey) is a town in Kerala with beautiful backwaters, canals, lagoons
and beaches. 
Kottayam is an important commercial center
of Kerala and it is one of the most hilly region of Kerala. Kottayam
district also has some scenic backwaters and lagoons.
Idukki is the beautiful high range district of Kerala. Idukki district
has many hills and dense forests. The famous tourist place
Munnar is located in Idukki district. 
Ernakulam
refers to the most urban part of Kochi. Ernakulam has many places of
tourist interest.
Thrissur
is known as the 'Cultural Capital' of Kerala. Thrissur is famous for
Thrissur Pooram festival held every year. The festival attracts
thousands of people from all over Kerala.
