Ambalapuzha Sree Krishna Temple is located about 16 km from Alappuzha. This temple is directly associated to the Guruvayoor Sri Krishna Temple. The temple is famous for 'PalPayasam'. The temple has a Drama House. The art and sculpture in Ambalapuzha Temple is famous and attractive. This temple is the birth place of Ottamthullal, an art form of Kerala. The First Ottamthullal performance of the famous poet Kunjan Nambiar was staged in the 16th century in this temple. The temple Festival is during March/April every year. Velakali is a group dance held in the open air as an exhibition of the martial feats in front of the raja (king) of Ambalapuzha.
