Nadan Beef Ularth
Nadan Beef Ularth (Beef Ularthiyathu or Beef Fry) is a very tasty and popular dish among non vegetarian lovers of Kerala.
Ingredients
1. Beef cut into small pieces - 1 kg
2. Mustard Seeds - 1/2 tsp
Ginger chopped fine - 1 piece
Garlic chopped - 6 cloves
Shallots - 20
Turmeric Powder - 1/2 tsp
Red Chilly Powder - 1 tsp
Coriander Powder - 3 tbsp
Pepper Powder - 1/2 tsp
Garam Masala powder - 1 tsp
3. Coconut small pieces (Thengakkothu) - 1 cup
4. Salt - to taste
Curry Leaves - 2 stems
Water - 2 cups
5. Oil - 3 tbsp
Method
Heat oil in a pressure cooker and splutter mustard seeds.
Fry ginger and garlic for some time. Add shallots (chopped) and fry for some more time.
Add chilly powder, coriander powder, turmeric powder, garam masala, and pepper powder and fry.
Add the coconut pieces to this and fry until it turns brown. Add the beef pieces to this mixture.
Add salt, curry leaves and water and cook the beef until done.
Now add the beef mixture and fry until all the water disappears.
The beef ularthiyathu will look dark brown in colour when it is completely fried.:-Serve with onions rings.
