Kavya Madhavan hails from Nileswaram in the Kasargod district of Kerala. She was born on September 19, 1984 and entered the film industry as a child artist in the film "Pookkalam Varavayi". Later her presence in the Malayalam film industry was felt when she acted in the film "Azhakiya Ravanan" for the childhood face of the heroine Bhanupriya.

Kavya's early films after her first appearances as child artist include Oral Mathram, Krishnagudiyil Oru Pranayakalathu, Kochu Kochu Santhoshangal, and Bhoothakkannadi.

Kavya started acting in matured roles in movies like Chandranudikkunna Dikkil, Madhuranombarakattu, Darling Darling, Thenkasipattanam, Padom Onnu Kumarante Kudumbam, Rakshasa Rajavu, Onnaman, and Dosth.

Kavya became more popular in 2002 when she acted in movies like Oomappenninu Uriyadappayyan and Meesha Madhavan. Her golden years followed from 2003, with films like Thilakkam, Sadanandante Samayam, Vellithira, Pulival Kalyanam, Gaurisankaram, Runway, Aparichithan, Greetings, and Perumazhakkalam.
