Sthalam is an upcoming Malayalam movie directed by Sivaprasad. Bala and Shwetha Menon plays the pivotal roles. Mariyam Cherian produces Sthalam under the banner Avagama Creations.

The story of the film is written by the director Sivaprasad himself. Music is by Bhoopan Hasarika. Cinematography is by Ashwini Kaul. Vinod Sukumaran performs the editing.

Shanker, P. Sreekumar, Geedha Salam, Kochu Preman, Siddhartha, Sobha, Kannur Sreelatha, Arun Shanker, Vasantha, Vijimol, L.K. Leenus, Vishnu Prasad, Master Shawn, and Master Manu Vijayan does other major characters in Sthalam.

This is the second time that Bala and Shwetha Menon are coming together for a movie. They were earlier seen together in the movie 'Kayam', directed by Anil.

Sthalam deals with the struggles man makes to acquire a piece of land. Bala plays the character of Raghuthaman, a land surveyor. Swetha plays Chandrika, daughter of Pokkan Mooppan.

Shwetha Menon is getting some really good roles that can prove her acting proficiency. She had her debut in 1991 in the movie 'Anaswaram' opposite Mammootty. Later she took a break from Malayalam films and returned Mollywood recently. Her role in Palerimanikyam as 'Cheeru' was really a challenging one. Again she did prominent role in Kayam. Now she is acting in Rathinirvedam, the remake of the 1978 film with the same title by Late Shri. Bharathan.

Bala, who entered Malayalam films from Kollywood, is a regular presence in Malayalam movies now.

Sthalam will reach theatres by mid 2011.
