After acting in comedies like Golmaal and Sunday, Ajay Devgan is to act in an action flick which is remake of Malayalam super hit Puthiyamugam directed by Deephan.

The remake will be directed Rohit Shetty, son of fight master Shetty. Shetty was the stunt master of 80's and has worked with Ajay's father Veeru Devgan.

Rohit is also the director of Golmaal and Golmaal 2. Rohit will start shooting of Golmaal 3 from March with Ajay Devgan and Kareena in the lead. Rohit Shetty has directed many action films. His last was Zameen featuring Ajay with Abhishek Bachchan and Bipasha Basu released in 2003.

Ajay and Rohit were planning to do a hardcore action film for some years now. Ajay Devgan and Rohit Shetty saw Puthiyamugham recently in Chennai and feels it is a safe commercial subject. They bagged the Hindi remake rights from producer Anil Mathew at an undisclosed amount.

The yet to be titled flick is produced under the banner Shree Ashtavinayak Cine Vision Ltd. The shooting will start by the end of 2010.

Anyway Ajay already has his hands full of films releasing in 2010 including Ashwni Dhir's Atithi Tum Kab Jaoge?, Prakash Jha's Raajneeti, Kireet Khurana's Toonpur Ka Superhero, Priyadarshan’s Garam Hawa, Bunty Lutharia's Once Upon a Time and Golmaal 3.
