Jayasurya plays the role of the son of actor - director Lal in the new movie 'Payyans'. Angadi Theru fame Anjali plays the heroine to Jayasurya. Payyans is directed by Leo Thaddeus, whose directorial debut was 'Pachamarathanalil'. This is his second film.

Jayasurya will be seen as an RJ in Payyans. He does not have any big aims in life. His only thinking daily is how to make use of someone else for his carefree life. Jayasurya says he does not need any special preparation for this role as his beginning of the career was as a TV anchor. Anjali is also an RJ in the movie.

Jayasurya has taken up a new trendy look for this film. Payyans also tells the deep relation between the mother and the son. In the movie, Rohini plays Jayasurya's mother.

Pooja of the film was at Kochi. Oscar Winner Resool Pookkutty lighted the lamp, while Jayasurya, Director Joshi, Producer Naushad Kammu, Sreenivasan, Lal and cinematographer S.G. Raman attended the event.

Jagathy, Lalu Alex, Saikumar, Suraj and Guinnes Pakru will have major roles in Payyans. The music is scored by Alphonse for Anil Panachooran lines.

Payyans has its major location at Fort Kochi.
