When the plans of making a sequel to the famous/ infamous Avalude Raavukal, reports were that the actress Swetha Menon would handle the lead role in the film. But the actress denied. Now the production has confirmed that Seema will be doing the sequel and possibly the lead character.
Avalude Raavukal set new trend when it was released in 1978. The film was directed by stager I.V. Sasi and was the first 'Adults Only' film in Malayalam. Avalude Raavukal was about the life and times of a Kozhikode based teenage commercial sex worker Raji, played by Seema. It was Seemaââ¬â¢s debut film which skyrocketed her to stardom. Director I.V Sasi, married her.
Vijayaraghavan will play Soman's role, while Mamukkoya will be seen in the part played by late Kuthiravattan Pappu. This untitled sequel is scripted by Aleppey Ashraf, who wrote the original and led the audience to 'mature' cinema. In the sequel, Seema would enact a rich business woman and mother of an eighteen year old girl.
R.K. Damodharan will write the lyrics, while Berny Ignatius will score the tunes.
P.H. Hameed, who produced Ee Thanalil Ithiri Neram and Manathe Kottaram, will produce and direct the sequel. The filmmaker believes to cash in the name of old movie.
