Amar Akbar Antony was the name chosen for Jagadish's directorial debut directing Mammootty. But later Jagdish dropped the project. Now Shafi has taken up this name for his upcoming venture.

Shafi's Venicile Vyapari with Mammootty and Kavya Madhavan graced theatres on December 16.

Amar Akbar Antony will see Biju Menon, Jayasurya and Kunchacko Boban in the leading roles.

The shooting of the film will start next year in Mumbai. Amar Akbar Antony will be a family entertainer. Heroine is not finalised. Salim Kumar and Suraaj Venjaramoodu will play the other two roles.

Jayasurya and Kunchacko Boban had acted together in more than 4 films.
