22 Female Kottayam is a film with high expectations after Aashiq Abu's success with the movie 'Salt N' Pepper'. The director had earlier announced films like 'Idukki Gold' and 'The Gangster'.

The story of 22FK is about the life of Malayali nurses in hospitals of the other states of India. Kottayam accounts for the maximum number of nurses to other states. Hence the name 22 Female Kottayam.

The film is the story of Tessa Abraham, who is has studied nursing in Bangalore and works at a hospital there. The problems she encounters is the crux of the story. Fahad Fazil dons the role of Cyril C Mathew, Tessa's lover.
