Krishna is worshipped here in the form of Parthasarathy, charioteer of Arjuna in Kurukshetra war of Mahabharata. Aranmula temple is one of the ancient temples dedicated to Mahavishnu built by the Panadavas. Aranmula temple is believed to be built by Arjuna. The other temples being, Thrichittatt Maha Vishnu Temple by Yudhishthira, Puliyur Mahavishnu Temple by Bheema, Thiruvanvandoor Mahavishnu Temple by Nakula and Thrikodithanam Mahavishnu Temple to Sahadeva.

Aranmula temple is a magnificent temple constructed in the Kerala style architecture. Aranmula is also known for boat race held every year during Onam. Aranmula Uthrattathi Boat Race. The boats used for this boat race are Palliyodams.

Aranmula is famous for the 'Valla Sadhya' during Onam and also Aranmula Kannadi, a mirror made by the combination of Copper and lead.
