Thalassery or Tellichery is a place near to Kannur in North Kerala. Thalassery has a rich history and is an important place regarding the development of Kerala. Many invasions happened in the earlier times in Thalassery.

The Mamangam festival in Tirunavaya was the main festival of the Chera dynasty and it took place in this area. Kerala Varma Pazhassi Raja was one of the most renowned Raja and a warrior from this area.

Thalassery was famous for the spices trade in the old times. Thalassery also had one of the British Navy's major naval barracks along the Arabian coast.

Theyyam, the religious folk art form of Kerala, is still popular in Thalassery.
