Sainik School, Kazhakootam
The scheme to establish Sainik Schools was introduced in 1961 with the primary aim of preparing boys, academically, physically and mentally for entry into the National Defence Academy.
Admission is confined to Classes VI and IX for Boys only. The standard of the Entrance Examination would be equivalent to that of Standard V and VIII (CBSE) respectively.
67% seats are reserved for the boys of Kerala State and remaining seats are open to boys from other States and Union Territories. 15% of the seats are reserved for Scheduled Caste and 7.5% for Scheduled Tribe boys. 25% of seats are nationally reserved for the children of Service Personnel including ex-servicemen. However, the school strictly follows the policies as laid down and subsequently amended by the Board of Governors and as well as the directions given by the State Government in respect of all admission to the school.
