Kingfisher Airlines
Kingfisher Airlines was a major Indian airline that operated from 2005 to 2012. It was owned by the Indian businessman Vijay Mallya and was headquartered in Bangalore, India. The airline operated both domestic and international flights to over 50 destinations before ceasing operations due to financial troubles.
Kingfisher Airlines was launched in 2005 and quickly became one of the largest airlines in India, known for its luxurious in-flight experience and high-end services. The airline operated a fleet of Airbus A320, A330, and ATR aircraft and offered a range of services, including in-flight entertainment, gourmet meals, and personal screens for each seat.
However, in 2012, Kingfisher Airlines faced severe financial troubles due to rising debt, high fuel costs, and intense competition in the Indian aviation market. The airline was grounded in October 2012 and was unable to pay its staff and creditors, leading to its eventual bankruptcy.
The collapse of Kingfisher Airlines was a significant event in the Indian aviation industry, with many experts pointing to the airline's aggressive expansion and high operating costs as contributing factors to its downfall.
