Onam is the most important festival of Malayalis. The Pookkalams and the
Thiruvonam feat are the most important part of this festival. Keralites
irrespective of caste or religion celebrate Onam with great pleasure. They
create Pookkalams in front of the houses and prepare feast to welcome King
Mahabali, who is believed to come back to visit his people on the
Thiruvonam day.
